TLC Knee Scooter Parking Brake Instructions
Setting the Parking Brake:
- Ensure the wheel with the brake is on level ground.
- Squeeze the brake level on the handle bar, and then depress the push botton on the top of the lever. To release the brake, squeeze the brake lever. (Your weight must be on the scooter for the all wheels to touch the ground.)
If the Parking Brake Does Not Engage Properly:
- Check to be sure the wheel with the brake is completely on level ground. If the braking wheel doesn't rest completely on the ground, the parking brake doesn't engage.
- If the parking brake still doesn't work properly, then the brake cable can be adjusted.
Adjusting the Brake Cable:
- The brake cable attaches to the brake lever through the snug and adjustment screws. The snug screws release the adjustment screws and reset them when
adjustments are complete. Before turning the adjustment screws, located at each end of the cable, loosen the snug screws.
- To loosen the brake cable, turning clockwise, screw the adjustment screws.
To tighten the cable, turn the adjustment screw counter clockwise. When adjustments are complete, tighten the snug screws against the brake lever holder and the mounting bracket.
- Do not adjust the screw next to the parking brake button.
